FANCY BECOMING OFFICIAL? EA COURSES BEING RUN AT EXETER

Behind every performance is an official.  Athletics simply couldn’t operate without the volunteers who make competitions possible and this is no different at Exeter Harriers. With the busy T&F season about to start in March, with our 1st Evening Open Meet, we are looking to recruit new officials to help.

There are a number of courses which are being run by EA at our Clubhouse so this would be the ideal opportunity for those of you considering taking the plunge.  No previous experience is necessary and our existing club officials can offer support and advice. Opportunities include;

Health and Safety

  • Course Dates: 26.Mar.2017

This is a compulsory module for all track and field technical officials.

The module represents a key component of the technical officials’ qualification.
Length: Approximately 1 ½ hours

This course covers risk assessment and its practical implications for track and field officials; common safety problems facing officials together with the procedures to be followed in the case of an accident or serious incident.

Officials – Level 1 (Field)

A one day course that will allow the candidate to work under the supervision of a qualified official in the specific discipline with a view to becoming a qualified technical official.

Length: 1 day …

Please note: The minimum age for this course is 14

Following attendance at this course candidates will have knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

  • Appropriate attire/equipment
  • Knowledge and understanding of the role
  • Ability to follow duty sheet.
  • List events/roles covered
  • Ability to make quick and correct decisions
  • Presentation and accuracy of result card
  • Knowledge and application of rules
  • Relationship with other officials
  • Relationship with athletes

 Officials – Level 1 (Timekeeper)

  • Course Dates: 26.Mar.2017
  • Location: Exeter Harriers Clubhouse, Summer Lane, Whipton, Exeter, Devon, EX4 8NT
