There were excellent performances from Exeter Harriers with Jake Smith, Lee Dart, Anna Downs, Runa Manby and Brooke Coldwell all taking top 10 places in their respective age groups at the Frank Elford Westward League match at Newquay. Smith, competing in the Senior Men’s race, placed a superb 9th out of 171 competitors, complimenting his 8th place finish in the first match at Plymouth. Howard Bailey placed 42nd, Adam Stobbs 61st, James Haigh 63rd, Peter Chamberlain 88th, and Tom Blake 116th.
Lee Dart was the Club’s only representative in the U15 boys’ race, finishing a consistent 10th following his 9th place at Plymouth, and Harrison Stone placed 19th in the U11 race.
The combined SW/U17 women’s race saw U17s Phoebe Killen and Lauren Coleman do well to finish 31st and 49th respectively, with Catherine Harman 58th out of 126 runners.
Harriers were well represented in the U15 girls’ race with Anna Downs achieving an excellent 5th, bettering her 13th place from Plymouth, and Runa Manby and Katelyn Wells also running well achieving 9th and 12th places respectively, with Courtney Howard 14th, Sophie Burden 19th and Andrea Gilbert 24th.
Brooke Coldwell ran well in the U13 girls’ race with 10th place and Jasmine Stone finished in 18th.
The next cross country race is Sunday, 6 December at Eastern Fields, Exeter, and doubles up as the Devon County Championships. Entries are now open, please see link below for entry form. New runners always welcome, please enquire via the website.
