Exeter Harriers’ South West League Team surpassed all expectations with some dazzling performances to win their first Division 1 match of the season in style. Harriers won the U13 girls and boys age groups and the U15 girls and boys and came second in the U17 men, and congratulations must go not only to the athletes, with many competing for the first time, but also to the age group Team Managers who worked hard to ensure all events were filled in the younger age groups, adding strength and depth in the events.
Rachel Champion took the U13 sprints double with 13.70 and 28.64 for the 100 and 200, both new lifetime bests, ensuring Champion remains undefeated this season. Harriet Bond won the B 100 and claimed second in the B 200 with 14.84 and 29.96 respectively. Katie Chapman claimed three wins in the hurdles with a new PB of 12.72, long jump with 4.39 and shot with 8.02, and Jasmine Stone was second on count back in the high jump with 1.20.
Theodore Jackson Clist won the U13 javelin with 32.86 and the 100 in a new PB of 13.48 and claimed second in high jump with 1.35, and Johnny Livingstone ran a new PB in the 1200 with 4:59.08. Craig Moncur won the shot with a new best of 8.63 and Nathan Blatchford claimed second in the hurdles, also a PB of 13.90.
Isobel Pinsky claimed wins in the U15 hurdles with 12.15 and high jump with 1.50, and Lynne Robertson won the B hurdles in a new best of 12. 82. Jasmine Wellman won the U15 300 in 45.01, Cecily Turner won the 1500 in 4:59.62, and in the throws Amy-Beth Curtis took second in the javelin with a new best of 29.86.
Jack Turner won the U15 hurdles in 12.57, claimed second in the 300 in 41.89 and the discus with a promising 29.26, and Jed Dove won the hammer with a new PB of 24.56. Elliot Moran claimed a win in the 1500 with a new PB of 4:34.68
Lily Mills and Jack Moncur both dominated the U17 javelin, both claiming wins, Mills with 35.67 and Moncur 53.55.
In the senior age group Meghan Whittaker won the shot with 9.99 and Ollie Berry claimed the 3000 steeplechase with 6:37.80.
