IAN SHOCKED TO WIN EUROPEAN MEDALS AS INDOOR SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE

Exeter Harriers veteran athletes Ian Allen and Rob Grew both fought hard for medal slots at the European Masters Indoor Championships in Ancona, Italy. Allen was shocked and stunned to win bronze in the V50 long jump with his best jump of 5.88, having previously that day also won his heat of the 200 and run the semi-final, placing 5th. Allen also placed 8th in the high jump with a good clearance of 1.71, and followed up with another shock medal in a close 4 x 200 relay finish, which he describes as having won by the thickness of a vest.

Rob Grew was unfortunate in the V50 400, running well to place 2nd in his 400 heat but unable to finish the semi-final.
