Mark Palmer, who competed in South Africa last year, has now just returned from The Trisome Games in Florence, held on 15 – 22 July

“It was the first time that the International Sports for people with Down’s Syndrome had been held in one place at the same time. Over 1000 competitors from 36 countries took part in; athletics, swimming, gymnastics, judo, tennis, table tennis and futsal.” It was very hot (36C plus), very competitive and a great experience” according to mum, Sally.

“We were bussed to the track by 8.00 am each day, had brilliant buffet lunches and transported back to city centre hotels for  recovery and sight seeing, dinner and early nights.

Mark’s performances on the track were middling.

100m came 12 out of 27 (15.31)
200m came 12 out of 25 (32.25)
400m came 5 out of 22 (1:15:01)
800m came 8 out of 11 (3:23:40)
Long Jump 14 out of 20 (3.01)

However, he’s returned MOTIVATED to train harder for Madeira 2018!”
