The Junior Section meets for an hour from 6.30pm every Tuesday and Thursday at Exeter Arena. It is open to children aged 8 to 12 years and offers youngsters the chance to experience all aspects of the athletics spectrum with the opportunity for committed or talented young athletes to join a development group.
The Junior Co-ordinator, Dawn Skinner, is the main point of contact for all queries about junior athletics here at Exeter Harriers. Dawn will most often be found at the Welcome Desk in the main room of the Clubhouse.
Dawn’s role includes welcoming new young athletes and ensuring they are in appropriate training groups. If you and your child are new to the Club. Please feel free to approach Dawn with any questions you may have about your child and their athletic development.
An important part of her role will be to collate feedback from coaches, athletes and their families and to represent them at Board meetings. She is in constant contact with the coaches and also administers a Junior Award scheme during the summer months.
ESAA AWARD SCHEME
Exeter Harriers participates in the English Schools Award Scheme. Young Athletes may gain both individual and Combined Events Awards, with badges being available at each level (Level One through to Gold) for the following;
Sprints, Distance, Hurdles, Jumps, High Jump, Throws, Combined Events.
