Fourth Place Celtic Cup Disappointment for Moncur

posted in: News 0

15 year old Exeter Harrier Jack Moncur was elated to receive the call-up from Scotland last month to compete in the Celtic Cup International in Dublin in his specialist event the javelin, but has returned disappointed with his performance. Competing in the U18 age group and with a best throw of 49.64 in the first round which placed him fourth overall Moncur said “It didn’t go as well as planned. I was struggling with technique which I have done all season, and despite extra sessions with George (Eccles, coach) I couldn’t put it into practice.” Moncur was just a metre off his personal best, but was hoping the occasion would lift his performance and he would be able to overcome technical difficulties which have hampered him, along with many Harriers athletes, with the prolonged refurbishment of the track at Exeter Arena. “I feel really disappointed because I feel that I can throw better,” said Moncur.
