Last weekend 270 young athletes travelled to Boston, Lincs, to compete in the ESAA Combined Events including 5 Exeter Harriers who all achieved a top 10 placing and a points PB.
Jack Turner claimed Gold in the Inter Boys Octathlon with a points total of 5207, placing him second on the UK rankings, an improvement on his previous score of 5177 at the SW Schools Event held in Yeovil. Turner was disappointed to have narrowly missed out on medalling in the high jump, at the ESAA Championships in Birmingham in July, placing 4th on countback. However, he picked up Silver in the high jump at the UKA U17s Championships in Bedford, last month, and has now finished the season on a high.
In the Junior Boys competition Craig Moncur, who recently competed for Scotland, scored a points PB of 2828 to finish 6th (placing him 8th on the national rankings) whilst Megan Hamilton-Strong (a first year U15) placed 8th, in the Junior Girls Competition, with a points total of 2886 boding well for next year.
The Inter-Girls competition saw Oliva Dobson place 3rd, in the heptathlon, with a points total of 5114, helping secure Gold for the Devon Inter-Girls Team.
And in the Senior-Girls heptathlon Anya Turner also came 3rd with a points total of 4668.
Many congratulations to them all.
