Veteran Exeter Harriers athlete Ian Allen continues his countdown to the European Indoor Masters Championships later this month with an outstanding weekend at the British Masters Championships at Lee Valley. “It was a pretty good weekend” said Allen. Two national titles and two silvers are excellent preparation for Torun, Poland on 23 March, with Allen taking the winning spot in the M45 60m hurdles in 9.35 and the triple jump with 11.94, and silvers in the high jump and long jump with 1.65 and 5.99 respectively, just 2cm off the LJ gold. “I’m very happy with my progress except in the high jump” said Allen, “my running is very good but I still have some technical things to sort.”
Jevgeni Judin won the M35 400m in 53.26 placing him fifth overall, and placed third in his heat of the 200 in 24.63.
Rob Grew was fourth in his heat of the M50 60m with 8.16 as part of his rehab following knee surgery.
This is Allen’s final competition before heading to Torun, where he will contest the LJ, HJ and 60m hurdles, hoping also to retain his place in the 4×200 relay squad.
