HARRIERS CLAIM THREE DEVON COUNTY CHAMPS RECORDS
Olivia Steer, Joshua Taylor and George House all raced to gold and a new championship best performance apiece with stunning performances at the recent Devon County Champs, which saw Harriers athletes claim 31 golds, 24 silvers and 22 bronzes.
Olivia's record-breaking performance came in the U17 1500m with a time of 4:31.27, some 8 secs off per PB set last year, but crossing the line 25 secs ahead of her nearest rival. The record had previously stood for some considerable time, set by 5-times Olympian Jo Pavey. Olivia currently sits at no. 3 in the national age-group rankings.
Josh smashed the U20 110H record with 13.87, his opening race of the season, to place him easily at the top of the national age group rankings. Josh is seeking the Euro U20 qualifying standard of 13.80 and has until the end of July to book his place for Tampere, Finland in August.
George broke the U15 800m record with a new lifetime best time of 2:05.54, over 2 secs quicker than his previous best set last year.
Other notable performances were:
Darcie Benson, taking gold in U15 long jump and hurdles, and silver in 300m.
