Harriers impress at the Cardiff Christmas Classic Grand Prix

9 Harriers travelled to Cardiff for the Christmas Classic Grand Prix. This is a senior annual event and some of our U17s and U20s gained valuable experience.

Nyla Roode smashed her 3000m PB, knocking almost 10 secs off, with a new lifetime best of 10:37.61

In his first indoor comp Sam Stevens PB'd in long jump with a leap of 6.11, his first time legally over 6m, as well as running 60m and 300m.

Darcie Benson also PB'd in long jump, getting ever closer to that 5m mark with 4.95. Darcie won her 300m race, but having only just moved up to U17 age group and with the hurdles at senior height this race was a challenge, but with immeasurable experience gained.

Mia Forbes, Zola Taylor, Jack Williams, Aaron Smith, Jack Thornhill and Jack Wood all competed in 60m sprint, with Jack Williams and Aaron also running the 300m. Zola equalled her PB in the Round 1 despite a re-run because of a timing malfunction, following up with a new lifetime best of 7.88 in R2.

Coach Gavin Forbes, who was there on the day, said "A successful day yesterday overall. Some fantastic efforts from the whole team. The way they performed, conducted themselves, and supported one another throughout the day was superb. They represented Harriers superbly. The team were running against seniors and U20s, as there was no 'age category' as such."

Well Done to All
